Dubuque is the oldest city in Iowa and was established by fur traders along the bluffs of the Mississippi River. Dubuque is located at the northern edge of Iowa separated from Illinois and Wisconsin by the mighty Mississippi. In the ice harbor, floats the Diamond Jo Casino Riverboat that takes you back to the era of steamboat gambling, and within the wink of an eagle's eye, is the Dubuque Greyhound Park & Casino offering slot machines and live greyhound racing during the summer.

Take a sightseeing cruise on an authentic paddle wheeler, visit the Mississippi River Museum and watch working barges lock through the General Zebulon Pike Lock & Dam No 11.

Visit our historic downtown with its many historical buildings and take a ride 189 feet up the shortest, steepest elevator for a view of three states. Relax with a horse drawn carriage ride through the city, or a trolley tour of Dubuque's downtown architecture.

You're here to play? There is biking, boating, bowling, canoeing, go-cart racing, golfing, hiking, horseback riding, ice skating, roller skating, skiing, swimming and tennis and a variety of parks. Eagle Point Park sits high on the bluffs of the Mississippi offering a place for picnics, tennis, walking tours, great architecture, and an unparalled view of the river.

Dubuque is home to four colleges, the Dubuque Museum of Art, Grand Opera House, Five Flags Theater, and the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra.
